The all-new 285 Open is designed for both the avid family angler and the dedicated tournament-driven angler. With an increased focus on the open space layout for full walk-up access to the bow and stern, the 285 Open takes fishing features even a step further by adding two additional cockpit insulated fish boxes with macerated overboard drains, standard kite rod holders and an optional deep drop set-up that includes reinforced gunnel boards and electric reel outlets.
Additional upgrades include a Garmin Force Kraken trolling motor and enhanced JL Audio sound system packages with 10” subwoofers and up to 10 speakers that are strategically positioned to optimize the sound no matter where you are sitting, standing or fishing from on the boat.

With an LOA of 28’ 5”, a beam of 9’ 11” and versatile seating options, you’ll have plenty of room for all your crew. Get to your favorite spot faster and fish all day with multiple twin engine options – up to 700 maximum horsepower. The helm can accommodate dual 16” Garmin screens, so navigating is second nature. The premium helm seat with tackle center and cooler with slide is standard on the Open or opt in for a version that includes space for more tackle, prep or an added Seakeeper 1.

The open bow design maximizes space for fishing, while also providing plenty of room and comfort for family and friends when you include the bow cushion package with forward facing backrests. The stowable bow insert and fold-down console seat offer even more seating options.
The hardtop provides ample shade on this boat, but when you come in from a day of fishing and want to relax at the sandbar, you still have the option to add the bow and aft canvas sun shade.

Did you know that Cobia hulls are built using our proprietary VARIS construction system? VARIS stands for vacuum assisted resin infusion system. With VARIS we pull the resin through all the laminates, stringers, and transom all at the same time, creating a single fused monolithic structure. The result is the highest strength to weight ratio possible in fiberglass construction, making the boats extremely light and exceptionally strong.
